NASCAR (National Association for Stock Car Auto Racing) is America's premier stock car racing sanctioning body, founded by Bill France Sr. in 1948 and headquartered in Daytona Beach, Florida. It sanctions over 1,500 races annually at more than 100 tracks across the United States, Canada, Mexico, Brazil, and Europe. The NASCAR Cup Series is its top-tier championship, featuring high-speed oval and road-course races with cars that reach speeds exceeding 200 mph. NASCAR is deeply rooted in American culture, tracing its origins to Prohibition-era moonshine runners who turned their high-speed driving skills into competitive racing.
The upcoming event at Texas Motor Speedway on May 2, 2027, will feature the NASCAR Cup Series: Wurth 400. This event is part of the larger NASCAR Cup Series Season, which includes 36 points-paying races plus the All-Star Race each season. Fans can expect an exhilarating atmosphere filled with pre-race ceremonies and driver introductions.
Notable records include the Daytona 500, often referred to as 'The Great American Race', and Richard Petty's record of 200 Cup Series wins. The live performance vibe at NASCAR events is electric, with fans enjoying a family-friendly environment that welcomes all ages.
Texas Motor Speedway, located at 3545 Lone Star Circle in Fort Worth, TX, is a major motorsports venue that can accommodate over 130,000 fans. The seating arrangement wraps around the oval racetrack with multiple grandstand sections. The best seats for racing are located in the Pit Side lower rows, which offer excellent viewing angles of turns 1-4. For concerts and special events, sections facing the center stage provide optimal views.
However, sections that face away from the stage should be avoided during concert events as they do not provide a good viewing experience. Premium suites and club-level experiences are also available for those seeking a more luxurious outing.
Parking at Texas Motor Speedway is extensive and includes various options to accommodate large crowds during major events like NASCAR weekends. The preferred parking area is closest to the venue gates and costs approximately $20–$50 per event depending on size. General parking lots are also available around the perimeter of the speedway with shuttle service to the gates for an estimated cost of $10–$25 per event.
It is advisable to arrive at least two hours early for NASCAR races due to high traffic volume. Access from I-35W North or US-287 is recommended.
Prices currently start around $40 for general admission tickets and can go up to $500+ for premium experiences during major events at Texas Motor Speedway.
